A translation of the sacred Jaina Sutras. The primary quantity comprises The Akaranga Sutra and The Kalpa Sutra, and the second quantity comprises The Uttaradhyayana Sutra and The Sutrakritanga Sutra.
The Akaranga Sutra outlines guidelines for Jain monks. Most notably it describes steps which monks should take to keep away from harming different dwelling beings, together with the microscopic life kinds which the traditional Jains believed pervaded the universe. The Kalpa sutra comprises a biography of the founding father of Jainism, Mahavira, in addition to different founders of the faith, and a listing of the successive Jain leaders.
